SASSAFRAS A friend and local woodlot owner had me remove all of the sassafras trees from his woods at the insistence of his forester. The result is about 600 board feet of 4/4" lumber, 8' in length. You probably won't find this beautiful wood for sale anywhere else because of its relative scarcity and the small size of the tree. It has a look (and fragrance) all its own, but is similar to red oak; a bit lighter and softer, but with a more pronounced grain. KD, S2S to 15/16".
